Abstract

Students’ mathematical problem solving skills in statistics remain low, necessitating the use of instructional tools such as innovative teaching materials to support the learning process. Meanwhile, existing teaching materials still have limitations, including monotonous visual presentations and a lack of variety in the learning experience. This study aims to develop valid and practical visual, auditori, kinestetik (VAK) based mathematics teaching materials integrated with mind mapping, specifcally for statistics.  The model used wa Sugiyono’ Research and Development (RnD) model, modified through product revision stages based on feedback from limited pilot test. The study was conducted at SMPN 9 Tegal, with eight grade students from Class VIII G serving as the pilot test participants. Research instruments included an expert validation sheet and a student practically questionnaire. Based on the research results, the expert validation conducted by one mathematics teachers yielded an average score of 92,593% (highly valid), while student responses regarding the practically of the instructional materials yielded an average score of 84,607% (highly practical). The research results indicate that the integrated mind mapping based teaching materials as an innovation in junior high school statistics mathematics instruction are valid and practical.
